WORKSHOPS
DAY: WORKSHOPS
Throughout the day, there’ll be 6 hours of vocal and rhythmic workshops, focusing on group singing, optional solo singing, tools for vocal improvisation, a cappella exercises, and singing with a live band.

2 hours of group singing workshops focusing on improvisation, circle singing, and vocal technique. The skills developed during these sessions will be used at the evening participant’s concert.

1 hour of rhythmic workshops by the wonderful jazz drummer Jesper Lørup Christensen, exploring rhythm, groove, and musical interaction.

2 hours+ of workshops with a professional band (piano, double bass, and drums). Each participant will have dedicated time to try and sing a song or improvise freely (very encouraged) with the band. A week before the workshop, you can choose a song and submit sheet music if possible, or order a transcription of a song of your choice for 145 DKK. The results of this work will be presented during the jam session after the concert.

CONCERT
EVENING: CONCERT
The participants get to perform and share what they’ve learned with friends and audience. After that they can lean back and enjoy a beautiful jazz concert with Almadera and her band.

Part 1: Participant’s concert
Voicingers evolves around improvisation, so the audience get to experience the magic music being created in the moment. The workshop participants gets to put in practice what they have learned and explored during the workshops.

The framework of the concert will be planned and consist of circle singing, soundscaping, audience interaction and other vocal expressions, but the content will be improvised and created in the moment.

Part 2: Almadera concert
Under the artist name Almadera, Aleksandra Raczynska, will be performing with ther band. With a fusion of alternative pop and jazz, the Copenhagen-based artist blends spoken word, nature’s sounds, her melodic vocals, and violin playing. She wishes to bring the listeners a sense of serenity and calmness, whilst inviting the audience to participate and contribute to the soundscape of the concert.

JAM SESSION
EVENING/NIGHT: JAM SESSION
The night ends with a jam session facilitated by our brilliant jazz band – giving you the chance to sing songs of your choice or improvise with the band in a fun and supportive environment.

The jam session is where we get to experiment in a completely safe space, allowing participants and audience members, who might never go on stage at a jazz club or open mic, to perform with a professional band.

Anything is allowed, whether it’s jazz standards requested on the night, pop songs (if scores for the band is provided) or free improvisation.

As a workshop participant you get the opportunity to practice and prepare with the band earlier in the day. You can do free improvisation and try it out with the band. Or if you want to sing a certain song and practice it with the band, you can submit sheet music of your song choice a week before the event, or order a transcription of the song for 145 DKK.
